EPA Union Statement on Biden Administration Review of Attacks on Science Under Trump
The Biden administration today announced that it will conduct a public review of the Trump administration’s attacks on scientific integrity at the EPA over the past four years. In response, Gary Morton, President of AFGE Council 238 — EPA’s largest employees union — released the following statement:
“AFGE Council 238 commends the Biden administration and EPA Administrator Regan for undertaking this critical review of how the Trump administration attacked and undermined scientific integrity at EPA over the past four years. This is an issue that is personal to so many EPA employees, who have dedicated their lives to the EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment. Any attack on science is an attack on scientists. We urge the Biden administration to do a full accounting of how rank and file viewpoints were suppressed, not only the scientific ones, but of environmental justice and climate change policy efforts. Once this is done, it will become clear how endemic the bullying was within the agency and how it was not just a political appointee effort, but reached deep into the tentacles of career managers.”
